Many of you, myself included, have been heavily effected by the current economic state of the world.
I have been living in poverty my entire life, it’s just something I’ve come to accept until I’m able to provide for myself.
And when you’re struggling just to buy food and pay the bills, there is little money left to pay for entertainment; theaters, rented movies, cable, netflix or what have you.
But you need to have something in your life to distract you from how miserable your life is. Or how much it makes you struggle, damages you in inches with the simple fact that you can’t provide for yourself and your family.
You just want to watch a movie for an hour and a half; be immersed in a story that isn’t yours and just have fun.
Sometimes that one movie, spent with friends or just by yourself can pick you up, lighten your day so you can continue to try and make your life better for yourself.
I know that’s how they make me feel.
I think the reason, in this impoverished era of the working poor, we illegally download things because we can’t afford to buy them. And I’m not making this an excuse for everyone, I know there are quite a few people who are perfectly capable of going out and buying the DVD or blueray or box set or what have you.
But some of us simply can’t and we resort to the only thing we can.
I have been living without a land lane, a cell phone or a net connection for over a year now.
Some people find those things critical to their day to day lives. They’re not. But they are very useful.
Sometimes I just want to watch an episode of my favorite TV show because I don’t have cable and can’t watch it on tv.
This is just my personal view on things. That’s all.
ditto. life sucks, that’s why we made distractions. until things get better, i can’t afford most of these distractions that have proved vital to keeping my mind from straying to self-harming thoughts as an escape from the suffering.
